While dedicating her career to helping the ill move forward, Suprena Lenise Hickman realized that she was in need of balance as a dedicated caregiver. Born & raised in Charleston, SC, Suprena lives in Wilmington, NC and loves the coastal region. Suprena wanted to just get away and relax but had a vision to connect women and provide an outlet to detox and focus on themselves, since most women tend to take care of everyone else and neglect themselves- hence begins the cycle of health decline…
With years of trying to achieve mental, physical, and spiritual balance, Suprena had a passion for helping women move from stagnation to “DO-Nation”. Suprena founded the group Escape 2 Sisterhood Retreat with partner Stephanie Willis in 2008- in which women escape from the hectic daily routine and retreat to an ocean front view for rest relaxation and spiritual re-charge. Escape 2 Sisterhood has grown since then to become a leading women’s initiative in the Wilmington, NC.
As a Registered Nurse with over 17 years of assisting people to their optimal health, Suprena had Escape 2 Sisterhood jump into the world of mentoring with G.R.I.T.S. (Girls Rocking In The South), because she believes that if you are trained young about balance and goals you can achieve anything- hence decreasing the cycle of imbalance once becoming an adult.
Additionally, Suprena is a graduate and proud alum of Norfolk State University where she received her B.S. in Nursing. Also she has her MBA from the University of Phoenix. Suprena is a Certified Integrative Health Coach- trained by Duke Integrative Medicine. She also runs her own bakery business called Sweet Escapes- which was created as an outlet initially from her professional career. Suprena is a member of the following professional organizations: American Nurses Association, National Nurses in Business Association, National Black Nurses Association, North Carolina Nurses Association, & International Coach Federation. Currently, Suprena is a Nurse Entrepreneur focusing on educating and empowering women to invest in their health one escape at a time. Suprena believes in the holistic approach which has been successful over the years with the retreats. As she continues to improve her overall health, she inspires many women to do the same- as it is her passion.
