Stephanie Willis

stephanieStephanie was born in Whiteville, NC, she later moved to Wilmington, NC. Her passion for helping others and through her passion partnered with Suprena Hickman to start the Escape 2 Sisterhood Retreat in 2008- in which women escape from the hectic daily routine and retreat to an ocean front view for rest relaxation and spiritual re-charge. Since then Escape 2 Sisterhood has grown to become a leading women’s initiative in the Southeastern North Carolina.

Stephanie has 14.5 years in the field of education and her expertise has lead her to begin the girls mentoring program called G.R.I.T.S. (Girls Rocking In The South) an extension of Escape 2 Sisterhood. Being in the public school system and working with youth from disadvantaged social-economic status, she has seen young ladies make the wrong decisions and have limited exposure to opportunities. Stephanie’s goal is to be able to intervene with those young ladies at an early age to help them be more confident in themselves and their abilities.

Additionally, Stephanie is an alum of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she received her B.S. in Elementary Education (K-6) and her M.S.A. in School Administration. She is also a member of the following professional organizations: North Carolina Association of School Administrators and the North Carolina Principal and Assistant Principal Association. Currently, Stephanie is an Alternative Learning Program Site Coordinator for Pender County Schools.

The words of this serenity prayer keeps Stephanie focused and encouraged as she fulfills her mission of teaching and helping others:
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.”
